Parents play an influential role in their children's career plan. They realize their children's talents, skill set and interests. They can help them to pursue an educational course suitable to their interest which would help them to take a rewarding career.

Financial Planning

Parents should be pro-active in saving money for their child's education. There are lot of money saving plan for children's education like Children's Education Fund, Education Savings Account, Fixed Deposit etc. You may not know now but in future your child's education should not become unaffordable or affected by your financial constraints.

Offering Advices

Parents have to offer positive feedbacks and advices to their children which would help them to learn things with interest (not just for the sake of studying).

Career Counseling

You can also take your child to a Career Counselor who would be in a better position and professionally qualified to explore your Child's talent, attitude, personality etc. thru systematic tests and oral questions. The Career Counselor will offer suitable career options to your child based on his talent and personality which would impact his future. You can also allow your child to participate in Career counseling workshops, extra-curricular activities, career seminars etc.

Do not influence your thoughts

Do not force your son/ daughter to pursue graduation in which only you are interested. Just because you are a Doctor doesn't mean your son/ daughter has to follow the same profession. Your son/ daughter may have interest in different field. You will have to realize this and help them to pursue education based on their interest and goals.

Internships

Parents should encourage their children in doing internships. These internships are really useful to gain experience and knowledge in their career path. Internships also affix as an added advantage in your Child's Resume which would definitely attract the eyes of the Recruiter!
